Which is better? declining reservation vs letting it expire?

Letting it expire is similar to ignoring it, isn’t it? I would think that would be something they could ding you on. Better off to archive it to avoid that possibility. I know how you feel when it comes to declining, I take time in between clients and feel guilty for declining but, I get it.

If you know for sure that you are not going to accept the request, for whatever reason, it's only polite to decline the request and archive it. This gives the potential client time to find another sitter.

If the person has already accepted the booking, and they are just waiting on you to accept or decline, definitely decline and then follow-up with why you've chosen to do so. Then, just archive the booking so that, like Mary said, it isn't keeping you from getting bookings you want to accept.

Hi Vanessa: I guess it depends on the situation. When uncertain, you should archive the request so it doesn't block your calendar for any other request that you'd be certain to book.
