How do you charge a mileage fee?

I have gotten requests for drop in visits, and they are 60 miles away. The problem is there are no other pet sitters in that area. I want to know how to charge a mileage fee. And I think it should be available when someone is trying to book. So far all other questions asked like this say put it in your profile. I think that makes it seem hidden and I don't believe everyone reads the profile. When you book you pick your type and days and it calculates a price. So when someone request a booking and they didn't see a section that charges a traveling fee right there with the type and days of booking then you have to send them back a message to tell them hey you are out of my area but I am willing to do this for an extra fee, they might think you are trying to screw them over. I would think that if it were me.

In my area, there are hundreds of sitters within that distance. I have seen that many sitters write it into their profile, so the owners can be informed when deciding who to contact. Under Boarding & Day Care, Rates, there's an +Additional Rates that can be expanded, and has an area to enter a flat rate for Pick-Up and Drop-Off (which seems like the best additional place to show the rate, even though it's for your travel rather than a dog's). However, since your profile offers walking & drop in visits, that isn't an option for you currently...which reinforces the only way to share that info before contact is made is in the profile.

True, requests will likely come that indicate the person didn't read the profile, but then it's up to sitters to inform the pet parent. If they don't notice that and send an inquiry, it can be easily pointed out & referred to in the messages, making it seem less arbitrary. If I was asking a pet sitter to travel 60 miles, I'd understand if they told me that there was a nominal additional travel fee to cover that distance. Beyond 10 miles seems to merit a charge. When booking, you may have to list it under the category called Cost Adjustment and again remind them in the message that is the travel fee that was already discussed.

See I think Rover needs to revise. I don't do the boarding/daycare just drop ins right now. So putting it under what you suggested would not work for me. I understand it is not a common thing but Rover should add it somehow. I have tried sending feedback but keep getting an internal server error.

Here's a link you can try to send the request to support. https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/requests/new Maybe the form will load if you click on Help Center, then Contact Support, then choose Sitter & Other from the boxes.

yeah that came up empty too.

That did it thanks. Had a heck of a time trying to find it.

You can adjust rate before accepting reservation and just explain to the customer what the extra amount is for.
