Dog aggressive toward husband

I am currently watching two dachshund dogs (one female and one male) along with my female puppy. For some reason the male dachshund barks and bites at my husband anytime he stands up or walks into the room. The male dog could lay on the couch next to him amd lick him but as soon as my husband stands up, he barks and jumps off the couch and goes after his ankles.

The dog barked at my husband at the meet and greet but the owners and I thought it was because he was someone new. I called the owners who rescued him and they said they haven't seen this behavior before. My husband has fed him treats and food and the dog likes him, but as soon as he walks away, the dog nips and barks constantly at him? Any advice?

I had a havanese girl do that to my wife. we worked around it by having my wife pick her up before she left the couch or room and carry her a few steps and put her down. The barking stopped the same day :) Lots of pets and a little patience should do the trick.

Male dogs can be really territorial and tend to act more strongly when they feel they are being threatened. Especially because he usually plays the alpha over the female dachshund, seeing your husband stand tall and large causes him to feel the need to fight back to protect himself or his sister. Once your husband sits and becomes level with the dog, he won't feel as threatened by his size.
