Is it normal for a sitter to leave dogs unattended?

Hi, I came to pick up my dog within the pick up time range. I saw my dog with other dogs in the window, but the sitter was not there. She said I needed to text her before arriving. She was at the store. She said that she could not tell me how many times a week she usually leaves the dogs unattended. My dog also has separation anxiety, and we discussed not leaving him alone prior to care. Is this normal procedure for doggy daycare?

I am sorry this happened to you and your dog. She should have honored the terms. I am a full-time sitter and take great pride in providing my Rover dogs especially those with anxieties with constant supervision. Full-time sitters charge more because they provide more attention.

Rover sitters are independent contractors. Although there are guidelines, there may be significant differences between different sitters regarding the care offered (including the amount of time the dog may be left unattended, if there will be multiple dogs, etc. ). Each sitter and owner should agree to all the details before booking. If after discussing with the sitter, you believe that your agreed upon arrangement was understood but not honored, you may contact Rover to discuss.
