What is Rover doing to ensure our reputation?

This lady with her horrible pet sitting experience with her dog that almost had to have its foot amputated is dragging Rover's name through the mud. What is rover doing to promote it's pet sitters that aren't terrible people? I've seen WAG a lot in the news lately and I'm wondering if people are switching to other platforms because of this lady's experience. I mean her story has spread across Facebook like wildfire and I haven't seen any kind of response from ROVER...I don't want to be associated with one terrible pet sitter just because I'm also on here. Obviously most of us are fantastic pet care providers and we have references and testimonials to back it up, but this woman is tearing down the entire ROVER platform. Is ROVER taking any action to protect our personal reputations and ensure peace of mind to the clients that their pets are safe?

Rover bashing is very common on Facebook and other social media platforms, and frequently local newspapers run stories when Rover sitters screw up. Are there bad sitters on Rover, yes there are, but there are also highly qualified sitters on Rover. Independent pet care providers and pissed off owners seem to rally the flag at every given opportunity to discredit Rover and disparage those of us who provide quality pet care on the Rover platform.

Rover is a technology company not a pet care company and in my opinion does little to prepare new sitters for the tasks associated with caring for animals professionally, but remember they are a tech company not a pet care company!!

You are too right unfortunately! What upset me is, like you've pointed out, we are all basically independent contractors so whatever happened she needs to take up against the pet sitter not destroy the whole company platform. It would be nice to hear Rover's side of this, though.

I can't answer on behalf of Rover.

However, I'd suggest that you could send the link to what you've seen to Rover support to look into and if you ever come into contact with people who are sharing bad experiences to nicely ask them if they'd be willing to contact Rover, so they can look into the situation further and take appropriate action, which may include removing negligent sitters from the network.
