Does anyone do meet and greets in their home?

Just spoke with a new client, and she would like to do a meet and greet at my home . Ive only done a few of these, but was wondering if this is even allowed ? Have any of my fellow sitters done this, and any tips? I don't want to break any rules(I did see any pertaining to this). Im a little uncomfortable with a potential client coming to my home beforehand, but I can understand her wanting to check out where her fur baby will be staying. I have already booked the request(probably shouldn't have done that)

Meet and Greats are the cornerstones of being a Rover sitter, the vast majority of sitters would never accept a booking without one. If the clients dog will be staying in your home the M&G should be in your home or a community area and then your home. Here are a few tips https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar... Best of luck

All my clients come to my home for a Meet & Greet. As you said, they have a right to see where their dog will be staying. Rover advises you to meet other dogs, especially if you have your own, at a neutral location. However, my dog has more of a problem with other dogs outside than in the house. So they all come here and I've never had a problem. Dogs have the run of my first floor, so clients can see that as well as my backyard if they want. But mainly, we just sit in the living room and talk, while their dog checks out the place.

And, yes, you probably should not have booked it before meeting with them. Sitters tend to have more problems that way than having anyone over.

If you are concerned about safety, then have someone with you. It is definitely not a violation of any Rover rules.

Thank you, karen. I figured it was okay, most of my clients usually request a more neutral location, so just wanted to make sure =)

I always do my m&g in my home. My client is very important to me so I think I'm very important to them as well. I want them to see how I secure my other boarders when we meet. I also want them to see how clean my house is. In the three years I been a Rover sitter I've never felt nervous. I used a Rover sitter while on vacation and she refused to let me come to her home. If she would have let me come I NEVER would have booked with her. Her house was dark, extremely dirty, smelly, and the very small water dish had pink scum around the inside. Our flight was a few hours later, so we had no other options. I worried the entire vacation. If those things are important to you too, they're probably important to potential clients.

For boarding, I require the M&G at my home, and I always do one before accepting a request. I want to judge how the dog acts in my home and I want the clients to see where their dog(s) will be staying. I don't give them a tour of the whole house, just the back yard and living room area.
