How to explain prices?

Hi, I recently took a break from Rover while doing other work and upon returning raised my prices significantly. Since then almost every new client I've gotten has tried to haggle with me or hire me outside of the Rover platform. I do charge more than most in my area, but still less than other pet sitting companies. Does anyone else find it difficult to explain your prices when other sitters are charging $25/night for house sitting? I also get asked how much of percentage Rover takes and when I tell them 20% they balk. I feel pressured in m&g's now to defend myself and convince people to go through Rover. Is anyone else experiencing this and how do you deal with it?

Clients haggle on prices regardless of how high or low you set your rates. If you feel your rates are fair then don't discount, it may mean clients may not complete the booking but that's just the way it is now in the pet care community. My rates are my rates and I stand by them. Best of luck

I just point them to my reviews and my repeat clients. I provide excellent care for their dog(s) in my home or theirs. I only take one dog or family at a time, so they get my (mostly) undivided attention. I don't discuss/negotiate prices. I offer new clients the $20 Rover promo, a discount if they have additional dogs, and a discount on the first dog if the stay extends over 14 days. I don't fault people for asking for a discount, but I will not give one except in the cases I just listed.
