How come I never see negative reviews on rover.com? Everyone seems to have a 5-star review?

All the reviews appear to be 5 stars. How do I know I can trust the reviews.

Very bad experience with a sitter from Rover. We paid house stting fees and left clear instructions in Rover and sitter knew about our expectations. Sat and Sun she left our dog on her own the whole night and on Mon she left at 8 and came back at 4 pm. We got full refund, sitter is still in Rover.

Btw we knew because we have outdoor cameras, when we confronted her she said it was too much and left. We were out of the country and had to look for care for our dog in the middle of vacations.

I had a similar experience just last week...sitter not staying overnight..not walking dogs or letting them out. After two days we cancelled sitter..my neighbor alerted us and got the key back from her when she finally showed up at 10 30 pm after being gone over 12 hours. I just sent in my report.

I do not want to use my sitters name on Rover but it was a bad experience. She told me it would just be my dog and hers and that my dog could free roam her house. She ended up crating my 50 pound dog that had never been crated. She locked my dog in a bedroom and when I picked up my dog there was now 6 dogs. Rover offered me $60 credit. I should have got a full refund.

Sorry, just seeing this now for the first time. So sorry your poor doggo had to go through that. How do you know the sitter did all that? I would love to put a mini-cam on my pet when she goes to the sitter to see how she's really treated. How did you find out? Thanks in advance!

wow, as a dog sitter thats extreme & I would personally feel uncomfortable, specially if I didn't know this camera was on the pet. I understand the concern with finding a trustworthy sitter, as a sitter and pet owner, I get it. Invading someones private is not ok

Yeh youre breaking some laws there. Everyone has the right to peaceful existence and privacy in their domicile. If you were to place a mini cam on your doggo while its in someone elses home without informing the sitter thats a huge lawsuit and maybe criminal matter. Not even landlords can do that

There are definitely negative reviews. You only have to read here from sitters who have received them. Also, the star rating is averaged. You do not see individual ratings. Granted, a zero- or one-star rating is going to drag a sitter's averages down, but it also could be that the lower rated sitters are placed further down in the search results and some may have even been suspended by Rover.

I had a bad experience with a sitter and wrote a review outlining what happened but it was never published. I read that sitters get pushed down the line with bad reviews and can be taken off Rover but this sitter is still on Rover and certainly not pushed to the bottom of the reviews!

I am not leaving a bad review for fear of retaliation. My last sitter left my cats alone for 12+ hours at a time. Did not follow instructions which were clearly written at each food bowl, on my booking request and when we met. Sitter signed in for 5 minutes, sent pictures and left according to the Rover App. I came home a day early because I was so distressed over what was going on in my home. One night she showed up at 2:30 am in the morning, REALLY? This was not my usual sitter who was unavailable. But with 69+ positive reviews, I cannot believe that this is the service that my furbabies received, just awful. May use the neighbor from now on, not so sure that I can trust the Rover review system.

I'm sorry. That is terrible and I would be incredibly upset, too!

Reviews are left by owners who have used the sitter in the past and typically reflect their honest feelings about the sitter and the care provided for their pets. Sure may have nothing but 5-star reviews and they have earned them by providing excellent care for both the owner and their pets.

Sitters that don't perform and receive poor reviews are usually gone from the Rover platform in short order as others won't use them after reading about poor performance. Best of luck in finding a quality pet care provider as I am sure you will.

The sitter can also block you and maybe that is why you are not seeing the negative review. It happened to me.

There's a reason you don't see many negative reviews - Rover sitters are awesome, experienced, reliable and trustworthy, and their clients love them.

If there was a sitter with negative reviews, it only shows this sitter is not a good fit for Rover and Rover's clients, and the sitter would be suspended.

The biggest company of its kind, Rover lists dog walkers, pet boarders, house sitters and others who love pets in more than 10,000 cities.

And going public!
