Sitter not sending updates?

Hello, I left my dog with a sitter for the week and have been really concerned with some of her behavior. Her profile said she only watches on dog at a time, but when we arrived she had at least three dogs there she was watching. Both at the meet and greet and the drop off she made strange excuses for why we couldn’t come in the house. On her first day of watching our dog she told us our dog was not eating. We have had many friends watch our dog and this has never once been an issue. Our dog eats not only her own food, but any other dog’s food. Since then she hasn’t been giving more than one sentence updates when we ask. There is currently a heat wave and we made very clear our dog needs to stay indoors except when going to the bathroom and the sitter agreed. However, her reasoning for why our dog wasn’t eating was “ the heat”. She never sent an update today and getting pictures has been like pulling teeth. I’m concerned all the pictures we received so far we’re just from the day we dropped her off and now our dog is just locked in a crate or worse. Is this how rover usually is? It would be about $2000 to fly home and a three hour drive. But at this point it feels like it’s the only option. The sitter had over 40 good reviews and repeat clients.

I had a friend willing to go get mine in an emergency in case something happened. Send someone after them

I’m sorry to hear that your & your dog’s experience does not seem to be going well. There is another option to consider. You can request that rover transfers this booking to another sitter. If you met with another sitter that you were considering booking, tell rover who you would like it transferred to. If you do not have another sitter in mind, they will try to reach out to sitters on your behalf.
