What to do about adult dog potty accidents in crate at night?

My five-year-old dog has recently begun pooping in her kennel at night. It has been three times in the last month, and the poops are normal in texture, consistency, color, etc. She has moderate separation anxiety and sometimes steals my kitten's food. Should I watch her a bit longer or set up a vet appointment asap?

Have you sent in a fecal to your vet? Just collect a sample and send it in. They can test it without an exam.

I would also evaluate your feeding ritual. Eating more than normal, later than normal? Maybe you need to adjust your potty routine?

Also, how big is the crate? If it is too big, they'll potty on one side ,and then sleep on the other.

If kitten is a new addition to home or there have other changes, that may be causing this. If you have a relationship with a trusted vet, call them and ask them what they suggest. Based on your dog’s history, combined with their knowledge of Dogs, they may suggest a behavioral training or something else.
