Why aren't I getting offers to sit?

Hi, when I initially signed up for Rover I had a lot of interest yet had time conflicts with my schedule. I then had a family issue and had to deactivate my account for a couple of months. I'm back on now but have not had any interest yet. Advice welcome! thanks.

In my opinion, a lot of people do not have hypoallergenic or non shedding dogs, most of dogs just shed if they aren't bathed and brushed daily. So that would be the first thing why regular dog owners are not messaging you.

Second, your service radius is set for 1 block away from you. You should expand it beyond 1 block.

thank you for this information. where do you see that it is set to a 1 block radius. i've looked everywhere and can't figure out where to adjust that.

In that section, with your preference for hypoallergenic/non-shedding dog, the other thing that stands out is your preference to have dogs comfortable adapting to someone else’s home. Many, if not most, owners have No idea how their dog will adapt. For boarding, most dogs don’t adapt perfectly.

Hi Deborah!

It's understandable that you may not have had as much interest since you deactivated your account for a few months. Here are a few tips to improve your chances of getting offers to sit:

  1. Use relevant keywords: Make sure to use relevant keywords in your profile description and services offered, as this will help improve your search ranking for those keywords. For example, if you offer dog walking services in a specific neighborhood, make sure to mention the neighborhood by name in your profile. 2.Ask for reviews: Encourage your current clients to leave reviews on your profile. Reviews not only help potential clients decide whether to book with you, but they also improve your search ranking.
  2. Be responsive: Respond to client inquiries and messages quickly and professionally. The faster you respond, the more likely clients are to book with you, and responsiveness is also a factor in search ranking.
  3. Participate in the Rover community: Engage with other sitters and pet owners on the Rover platform by participating in forums, leaving reviews for other sitters, and offering helpful tips and advice. This can help increase your visibility and improve your search rankings.
  4. Update your availability: Make sure your calendar is up-to-date with your availability. This will help clients find you when they are searching for sitters who are available during their desired dates.
  5. Consider advertising: If you have some budget to spare, you can consider advertising your services on Rover. This will improve your visibility and help you reach more potential clients.
  6. Offer competitive rates: Research the rates of other sitters in your area and offer rates that are competitive but also reflect your level of experience and the quality of care you provide.

Remember that it may take some time to build up your reputation on Rover and start getting regular offers to sit. Don't get discouraged and keep putting yourself out there.

Good luck!
