How to Connect with Fellow Sitters for Client Matchmaking?

Hey fellow sitters!

I've been getting requests from clients who need pet care, but unfortunately, their dog doesn't get along with other pets. As someone who takes multiple dogs at a time, I want to make sure I can accommodate all my clients' needs (Yes, clients don't fully read your profile before sending requests).

Before declining a client's request, I would like to check if any other sitters in my area are available and willing to help out. Is there a way to contact other sitters in my area to see if they can accommodate these clients? I want to ensure that I refer sitters who are available and able to provide the necessary care.

I know I also want to avoid sending booking requests to sitters as this is the only way I know I can contact them, this can be time-consuming and frustrating for everyone involved.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions or advice on how to connect with other sitters in my area and ensure that all clients receive the best care possible.

You're correct. There is no way to connect with other sitters on Rover to establish relationships (backup or otherwise) except to initiate a booking. No "message me" functionality.

My understanding is that many use Facebook groups as a way of connecting with other local sitters.

Thanks Karen. I actually tried searching for FB groups in my area, with no luck. It's unfortunate that Rover doesn't have a feature that allows us to connect with other sitters. It would be great if Rover could consider adding a networking feature that allow sitters to connect and support each other

I am sure Rover is aware of a litany of enhancements that would benefit its sitter community and has done very little in that regard in all my years here. The only thing I can think of is finally adding a tipping function just recently. Their focus is strictly on revenue growth.

When a dog doesn't get along with others, then you just call Rover and they will find a new better suited sitter for the dog. I would think that Rover wants to be the one who will find a better suitable placement for the dog, than asking a sitter to contact other sitters.

If I am boarding my dog, and there's a problem with the sitter and her dogs, I would want Rover to find a new sitter for him, rather than the sitter making her decision where to put my dog.

Hi Lenka L.,

Thank you for your response. I appreciate your input, but I think there may be some confusion about my question. I am not looking to transfer a client's dog to another sitter, but rather, to refer the client to another sitter who is available and able to provide care for their dog when I am not able to accommodate their request due to my multiple dog policy.

I agree that Rover wants to ensure the best placement for the dog, but I believe it's also important for sitters to help each other out and provide options for clients when possible.

Thank you again for your response, and I hope this clarifies my question.
