New Service Fees?

I just received an email 5/11/23 that "Rover is starting May 18, 2023, a Rover service fee of 11% will be applied to any new booking request you make". Seems bizarre considering recent earnings:

First quarter revenue increased to $41.1 million, up 48% year-over-year Gross booking value (GBV) of $209.4 million, up 36% year-over-year Total bookings of 1.5 million, up 27% year-over-year

And now they are requesting tips be paid even though the sitters set their price, so Rover is now 30% more?!

Yeah, I got that email too. 11% going straight to Rover when they already take a percentage out of the sitter's fee seems overly greedy. Sure, I wouldn't have any problem if the sitters charged $20 but I go away for 4-10 days and my regular sitter is one of the more reasonably priced ones in my area at $60/day. So an extra $66 is like paying for 11 days and getting 10. Count me as someone who won't be using Rover's services much longer.

As a sitter, I totally understand. In California, Rover increased the % they take to 25% around March and now adding 11% more is really insulting when their role is mostly limited to providing platform for connections & payment processing.

Wow, that IS insulting! I am in CA too and there's no reason to do that to sitters. I hope you can find another platform to work off of. I'm going to see if my regular sitter can do the same.
