How do I find someone to give my mom's dog insulin shots?

My 84 yr old mother is on a walker and just lost my dad in a tragic accident 1 month ago. Her 9 1/2 yr old rescue dog, Sasha, is her only reason for living right now. Sasha was just diagnosed yesterday with diabetes and will need twice daily insulin shots. She is a sweet natured dog who spent her first 8 years in a cage and mistreated. She just wants love and affection. I don't know how to find someone who can do this. The vet office was no help. Where do I go to find a vet tech or experienced dog sitter who can do this?

Not sure where you are located. If you are in Sioux City, IA. I'd love a meet and greet. I pet sit a 10 yr old schnauzer, who has diabetes and needs a shot twice a day. I feel comfortable administering the meds.

There are a couple options.

  1. If Sasha needs walks, you could contact rover directly at tel:[Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team] ask them to help look through the listings in your area for a sitter/walker who is a vet tech or an experience sitter whose profile specifically states they can do injections. You could look through the listings on your own, but they may have access to advanced filters which the search less time consuming.
  2. If Sasha does not really need a walk (Maybe she relieves herself in a designated area inside or in an attached yard) could internet search mobile vets, who would come to your mm’s home.

To add to Deb's post, also many sitters come here to read this forum, so posting a state, city and zip code helps too if you want someone to respond here.
