Hi Elisabeth, It sounds like you're a pet (dog) parent looking for a service provider. Rest assured, there is no charge to contact a service provider online and exchange information, including a complimentary meet and greet. Only after you decide that you want to book services, your card will be charged at time of booking.

The price shown on the service provider profile (which you'll see first) should match the booking, which includes the fee for Rover's insurance, 24/7 safety support , Rover customer service support, and the sitter/walker service fee.

In some cities, if you created an account after 9/9 , you will also pay 5% fee on top of that which will be shown at checkout and will not exceed $25 per stay .

Rover doesn't charge a "membership fee" but does take a percentage of payment. The amount depends if you are a rover premier host or a rover host and ranges from 15% to 25%. Rover now charges the customer a separate 5% service fee in some states, not taken from the sitter's pay. The fees cover the excellent customer service, updated system, advertising, etc. Hope that helps answer your question.
