Pet care experience

Over 15 Years Experience Caring For Dogs Dog sitting services for your four legged friend. We want the best for your best friend. Dogs are truly best friends, and as dog parents we (me, Annie & my husband, Steve) know the worries you have. We specialize in animal advocacy, providing advice and resources, and overnight dog sitting services in our comfortable home in Danbury. We're located at 17 Ellsworth Ave. between Osborne St. and Summit St., across from Wooster Cemetery. We're close to Danbury Hospital, Western Connecticut State University, Main St., the Danbury Police Department, 84 and Rt. 7. We're the best, forget the rest. What makes us the leader of the pack? Trained, reliable and responsible caregivers with over 15 years of experience. We usually only host one family at a time, to maximize the best experience for our guest pup(s). I say pup(s) because we have hosted families who have more than one dog. But trust that your pup(s) will have our full attention and care. We offer doggy daycare and overnight dog sitting in our loving home for housebroken friendly dogs who are up-to-date with their rabies vaccine and dog license. Besides being experienced dog sitters, we're also parents to a rescued mutt mix, Harley. Harley looks like a Beagle mix, and is typically very friendly. When first meeting new friends he has a loud bark but he's all wags, he barks to say hi. He came into our lives in July 2011 from Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS). He and your pup will most likely get along, but to be extra safe we require a meet and greet prior to your first visit. (It's free!) I'll send at least 2 picture updates during the stay, or as often as requested! Another reason to consider us before "the other guy" is the last we looked we're the least expensive area dog sitter listed here with a house! And when your dog stays with us s/he is welcome to accompany us on a cruise in our convertibe! Or of course let us know if you prefer them not go out and about on the town. Please note while we have side fences, our yard is not completely fenced in, but we have a nice back patio and large yard for your pup to enjoy the outdoors on a tie-out leash, and we will walk your pup when s/he is our overnight guest. Our street has a sidewalk and we usually walk Harley across the street through Wooster Cemetery, it's park-like, where there are great trails, areas of grassy fields, and a nice pond to enjoy. We're more than happy to abide by whatever walking schedule your dog is on, whether it's a quick trip outdoors on the tie-out leash, or a longer walk. If your dog has mobility issues please note that while we have lots of space downstairs for them, we do have 3 steps going into the house from the yard and there are several steps to the sidewalk, but our driveway doesn't have any, it's just a very slight incline. We do not charge any additional fees for dogs with mobility issues or special needs. We do require our guest(s) be housebroken. We prefer guests to be neutered, but can evaluate on a case-by-case basis. For overnight guests we are flexible with drop off/pick up times, our overnight sitting rate is for up to a 24-hour period. Additional daycare and pick-up/drop-off is available for an additional charge. We also offer doggy daycare if you need your pup to stay at Connecticut Canines for a few hours (and not overnight). Please specify what your needs are including days and times, and we'll send you a custom quote. Kindly refer to the calendar first to ensure availability and include as much information as possible about the pickup/drop-off times and dates. :) We offer a $5 off (per day) discount for your second dog. (If a holiday occurs during your dog’s stay please note that rover automatically applies the holiday rate for the entire stay if it’s for multiple days. In the past I’ve been able to adjust it on my end, please let me know if this happens.) We do not have any children, but there are neighborhood kids often around on our walks, so please let us know if your dog(s) is child-friendly or not - kids love to say hi to Harley. We take excellent care of your dog(s) and give personal attention, nice walks, and playtime :) For additional needs a quote can be provided, see services for details. We offer competitive rates in comparison with local dog sitters and have a wonderful home - we invite you and your pup to visit. A bit more about us... I'm (Annie) keep busy as a dog mom, and as a freelance journalist, marketing communications, public relations, and fundraising/development professional. I've worked in healthcare, politics and marketing, but my true passion is dogs! I do most work from home so your dog won't be alone. I enjoy being an advocate for our furry friends, and for those who can't always speak for themselves. I currently serve as a volunteer Commissioner & Secretary with the City of Danbury's Commission for Persons with disAbilities, appointed by Mayor Mark Boughton and approved by the City Council in May 2013. I am a Contributing Writer/Photographer for several newspapers and websites. I manage many of the aforementioned organizations' social media accounts in addition to Connecticut Canines. If you're on social media please follow us. We occasionally post coupons to our Facebook page so be sure to keep an eye out! I have a flexible schedule and will do my best to accommodate your dog's needs. We are almost always home however occasionally may need to leave for a few hours. Your dog must be okay being left for short periods of time without becoming destructive. If your dog absolutely cannot be left alone please let me know prior to booking so we may be able to accommodate you. Steve works for an oil/energy company in Westchester, is the owner of Dance Computers, a home computer repair business, and volunteers his time with several nonprofit organizations. When not playing with our dog Harley he can be found riding his Harley motorcycle in warmer weather. Harley is a special member of our family, he's Annie's service dog for her "invisible" disabilities. Harley meets the U.S. Department of Justice guidelines for a service animal. (Feel free to familiarize yourself with them on ada (dot) gov/service_animals_2010.htm.) Connecticut Canines is a start-up nonprofit. We are working to dispel myths about service dogs and educate the community, as well as help where needed when called upon by other organizations. We've worked with several other animal nonprofits to help assist them with various projects. Donations are greatly appreciated. We hope you may consider making a donation when your dog comes to stay, or you may give securely online via paypal.me/ConnecticutCanines. Or let me know if you'd like to volunteer as we are always looking for help getting the word out, development, research and more. We look forward to meeting you and your dog(s). Schedule a free meet & greet to come play, stay and book your dog's vacay! ~Annie, Steve & Harley 🐶

If there's anyone out there better than Annie, prove it. She bailed me out of a tough situation, took great care (and pictures) of the dog, took him for car rides, and sat with him when he whined at night. She and Steve (and Harley) are very warm and welcoming. I went for a short "meet and greet" and sat with them for 90 minutes. Beat that!

Annie was flexible about drop off/pick up times and communicated well while we were away. Our dog appeared to be having a blast in the pics and came home happy and healthy. Would definitely use Annie again!

Annie does doggie day care for us and my Oliver loves her and his new best friend Harley. He can't wait to go each day and always comes home all tired out. Annie is professional and always sends me great photos of their excursions. I'm so happy to have found her.
