PEACE OF MIND While You're Away :)

Pet care experience

Please dont request until you've read my profile and policies. TWO NIGHT MINIMUM. 3 night minimum on all holidays, unless you have 2 or more dogs. Please, no puppies under 8 months old unless they're mostly trustworthy indoors. Please no dogs with insatiable energy or excessively noisy. ***$38 - $45 a night PER DOG. Varies according to dog size/age/behavior/and special needs. I sometimes discount multiple dogs. Depends on the breeds and activity level, and whether its a high demand holiday. I am fully insured as a sitter, beyond what rover offers. This isn't a "hobby".🙂 I may be busy at the moment you make the request. I don't usually reply after 6 or 7pm. If you're just looking for the sitter who responds in 2 minutes, we're not a good match. If you wish to request after normal hours, and expect a quick response, we're not a good match. People who do this usually ghost me when i do take the time to reply the next day. Please respect sitters you make requests to. 🙂 I can´t sit PIT BULLS. PIT MIXES, WOLF HYBRIDS or TUNDRA SHEPHERDS because they are banned in Overland Park. I also cant sit other male dominant type terriers, or male german shepherds or huskies. I have a male Jack Russell who doesnt do well with these breeds. Females fine. And if your dog is a known fence jumper id rather not take the chance. Thank you for looking at my profile! PLEASE READ IT IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE REQUESTING SERVICE. You may see something that tells you we are not a match. If there's something i didn't cover, please ask. I'm Laura and I have been grooming dogs 33 years! I started PETSITTING at home 12 years ago for grooming clients. They appreciate my extensive and long term experience with dogs and peace of mind so they can enjoy their travels! Iḿ conveniently located near 119th and Quivira in Overland Park. As a groomer, I understand dog behavior and the importance of earning trust... being kind and gentle. A person can't succeed in animal care of any kind if they don't truly love and respect animals. I treat your dogs like I treat mine... and how I want mine to be treated by my own sitters. I have a medium sized fenced yard, 3 sides 6' and the back side 4') I have a good system for keeping client dogs separated from other dogs if the owner is more comfortable, and feels their dog is not interested in socializing. Usually dogs find their niche and make themselves right at home. During busy times, most dogs are crated at night and while I"m at work. I schedule lighter days at work when I have boarding guests. I let them out middle of night usually ( iḿ a light sleeper) , and again at 6:00 am. Crating isnt ALWAYS necessary, if your dog is older and will sleep through the night. I will ask you your dog's routine at your home while you work, and usually can provide something similar for your dog. Its very easy, usually, to establish a good routine. My clients can choose to drop off/pick up at my home in Overland Park, or my grooming shop in Mission, KS. I welcome as many questions as you have to be sure YOU are comfortable. We want the stay to be a good fit, and a pleasant experience! I havent done a meet and greet for years now. 99% of the time we can determine if its a fit by a conversation. Meet and greets are more if you wish to see my house, not if dogs get along. The dogs that are here during a meet will be gone when you're here. Meet and greet is welcome if you require it. Pickup and drop off cut off time is 8pm. This is strict. For new dogs, no early morning drop offs before i go to work . Must be the night before. Most of my clients crate or confine their dog in an area when THEY work, so this is my normal routine. If you don't want crated, your dog can be in the dog room where the crates are. There is a big bed for them. I have a jack russell and toy fox terrier who are very playful and sturdy for rough housing with larger dogs. They will leave your dog alone if ignored. Thank you for reading my profile and weŕe waiting to meet YOUR precious dogs so they have their own vacation! I own a grooming salon but book lightly when i have guests. Most client dogs are used to being kenneled at their homes while their people are at work, so the routine is no different at my house. Dogs disburse and find their own playmates or spot in the house when i'm home. Some hang indoors while others prefer outside. They find laps furniture and community toys. They have fun in a home environment!

We had a great experience with Laura! She took care of our dogs for a week and we had no issues. She even did insulin injections 2 times a day and gave other meds to that same dog. She had a great yard that I didn't have to worry about them getting out or having issues, since they aren't the best leash walking dogs. She provided clear expectations and I was grateful for the screening process. That told me that she would only accept non aggressive dogs and that my dogs would be safe. I greatly appreciated her. My dogs appeared to have a great time there and I will definitely be utilizing her services again!

Laura was very friendly. This was our first time using Rover.com, she answered all questions and sent pictures to comfort our nerves! My dog was happy and did great. We will be using her again for sure!

REQUIREMENTS for the safety of all :) No contagious skin or other contagious health issue. No history of aggression. Is he food aggressive only? That can be dealt with because i feed all dogs in kennels, but I need to know if your dog is excessively food agressive. Must be fairly socialized (just not aggressive or fearful.. does not need to love other dogs) Owner must know before requesting service that their dog is good (not aggressive) with other playful dogs. I do not take chances with this. No puppies under 8 months unless you assure me he/she is great in the house... potty trained and not destructive. Must be housetrained and not a known marker. I totally understand accidents happen! Of course they do when dogs are in a new environment, but im talking about them being housetrained at your home or you can share the dogs routine with me. Dogs over 15 lbs must be ok with stairs. I have two half flights. One downstairs to the back yard. They are wood with carpet treads. Had a few large older dogs that refused the stairs during meet and greet so we couldn't book No new rescues or dogs new to the owner, mainly because theres no track record of behavior in this scenario. We can discuss this if you think it wont be a problem. No known inappropriate chewers... cords, etc. Please tell me if your dog tries to escape through the door, or fence jumping/digging, although im fanatically careful with all dogs when opening doors. No dominant unneutered males. No overly dominant dogs in general, especially "alpha" males. My male Jack Russell doesn't respond well to dominant dogs. Fighting is likely. Unless older or mellow, my dog doesnt do well with energetic Huskies or male German Shepherds, so i can't take these breeds. No females in heat or that may come in heat while in my care. Crate trained is highly preferred as I do not leave dogs unattended free roaming in my home. I do have a room your dog can stay in, only if you feel he/she wont be anxious or destructive. Owner must understand and agree that fleas can happen, mainly late spring thru first freeze. They can be outside. They can get on your dog. It doesnt mean my house or pets are flea infested. I recommend using Frontline or another vet purchased product. My dogs are on Frontline, but i dont require you use a flea product. Just understand its ¨possible¨ theres a flea around. That being said, PLEASE deflea your dog before the stay ,if you book, if you know he/she has them. If I find an infestation on the 1st day I will have to deflea the dog for a fee. So far that hasnt happened! Please dont bring a filthy, smelly dog, or one with poop stuck to its behind! It happened once and I would like to avoid that. And last, Owner must understand BEFORE REQUESTING SERVICE that their dog will probably not be the only guest, yet there are times when it might be.. Its a revolving door sometimes... there may be 4 one day and 2 the next and 5 on the weekend. It varies widely. If you ask how many dogs iĺl have, i wont know exactly. But rest assured, I screen the dogs very carefully (as you see by these requirements) before agreeing to board. I ONLY take nice, friendly and healthy dogs, and never more than i can responsibly handle. This is my home that I love and I have my own dogs... no way I would take any chances. :) I have an excellent system that works very smoothly with multiple dogs in my home using multiple rooms/baby gates/ separated yard and indoor time. It all works out! These requirements are for the health and safety of all involved! Tiny or small dogs do great here! I have a 6lb girl, and she has no fear! and the small ones have their own area (in my lap or on the couch ?), if needed. They just still have to be fairly able to hold their own in a group setting and not be terrified of friendly big dogs. THANK YOU!!!

A typical day

I am conservative when caring for client dogs. Safety is more important than unbridled "fun". SAFETY IS #1 PRIORITY. Your dogs (or mine!) are never left in the yard while I'm not home, and they are separated from each other unless they're from the same family. While home, I let them in and out all day long. We play ball, fetch and tug and have a doggie (baby) pool. They follow me around the house, and romp with their new friends! They get plenty of exercise :) I dont take them for walks. Some dogs usually tend to sleep peacefully in their own bed/blanket in my bedroom (or where ever they settle down). Most dogs do much better crated at night. Small or toy breeds get a lot of lap time! Although I do work, I'm a home body in the afternoons/weekends. When I have boarding clients , I try to schedule just a 6 hour day at my grooming shop . We hang out, lounge around and play together. or I sit out and observe/supervise. Its a regular "home" environment. Dogs love staying with me for their own "vacation!" They are in good hands. :)
