Is cesar food good for my dog?

This is a question that we often get from sitter and owners who work with Rover. Help the community out by answering them in our forum!

I say no. Canned pet foods lack in nutrition and ingredients are not truthfully disclosed. I never feed my dogs canned or commercial dry for that matter.

I give an emphatic NO!!! I just came home from the Vet with a huge bill.... My dog that I recently started feeding Cesar brand dog food to, was really sick this morning. Took her to the vet to find out that she has Pancreatitis. They said I might as well have been feeding her McDonalds 2x's a day.

What was the outcome if i may ask was your doggie okay after.

After reading this not sure I will continue feeding it....why can't you change your packing as the foil is hard to open...

My dogs are little Cesar savory beacon feast and they got sick all three vomiting and one of them look like he wasn’t goi g to make it , I forced water and milk and they started feeling better a day later. I’m never giving them that food again

Superb, Really your nicely present this article, I really appreciate your method. I also follow this method. Pets are really good for being a partner in our family. I hope you also like pets. https://www.petanimalsezone.com/best-dog-food-for-great-danes%3C/p%3E (https://www.petanimalsezone.com/best-dog-food-for-great-danes)

My miniature dachshund Joy was just admitted to an all night stay at hospital diagnosed with HGE, severe vomiting and diarrhea. I had just recently started feeding her Cesar chicken & duck dog food, it is in the trash can. river-licci ( Jul 4 '17 ) post, Joy has same symptoms, different diagnosis

yes of course

I'm going to say no. Can and dry food is loaded with dyes, byproducts, fillers, and there really isn't a lot of nutrition. So many recalls. I personally feed them A Pup Above or The Farmers Dog. Healthier. Side note, we feed them the best we can afford.

I lost my little Chihuahua a week ago. My sister was feeding her dog Cesar . My dog got some of it. He got Pancreatics. It went into kidney failure. The vet could not save him. I had to have him Euthanized. I am so sad , I loved him so much. Cesar dog food is trash.

As many have already answered, I'll keep this short.

I have been in the dog industry for 12 years, and I have studied canine nutrition for that entire time as well.

My first piece of advice: Read the ingredients. Stay away from meat byproducts, "animal protein", soy, corn, BHA, BPA, and most grains.

Second piece of advice: The first 2 ingredients should be a meat source.

Third piece of advice: Anything after "salt" means that there is less than 1% of that ingredient in the food. So foods that advertise a picture of some sort of vegetable, superfood, or meat, but place after salt in the ingredient list is a marketing ploy. Don't fall for it.

I don’t know about Cesar’s specifically, but you must educate yourself about the best/worst ingredients for pet foods, then check the label carefully to see what’s in the food you are thinking about feeding to your pet. The pet foods companies are in the business to make money, and some sacrifice quality. Expect to pay more for a high-quality pet food.

I would just like to take a moment to say EFF ALL OF YOU! “Dry food is bad” “Wet food is bad”. Air is bad! I’m reading bs here like “ Omigod corn and wheat are bad!” “Oh I got my dogs better from supposedly all three of them vomiting “ (unlikely) by giving them……..milk?!?!? All you pretentious, new age snobs make me sick. Your dogs are probably miserable with the celery you force feed them. I hope someone force feeds YOU Cesar !

I start giving my dog cesar classics and gourmet wet food. In the begining was ok but now she is sick (vometing and not in mood for playing). I cook for her chicken with rice and chicken with carots and she was fine in 2 days. I gave her cesar again and she was sick again. I will take her to the vet to see but so far seems to be the food.

Cesar's food is packaged with a foil top, that is sealed with chemical compounds that are like anti-freeze. Any dog food container that uses foil or plastic tops, in my opinion, is a health hazard, not to mention that the food itself is really not the best quality.

NO! It's trash. Just like Pedigree and Alpo.

I would highly recommend you watch the Documentary Pet Fooled. I found it in Netflix. It really opened my eyes to The Pet Food industry. It is poorly regulated. Yes bi products are every gross contaminated meat you could imagine. Lately they've found euthanasia solution in some of the meat. It's a farmers horse, roadkill, the big bloated cow on the side of the road with maggots rotting away...you get the idea. The problem is the dog food industry is so huge they manufacture many different brands in the same factory. Dry food is bad. Preservatives and the drying process is causing cancer, Auto immune problems and more.

Raw meat diet is best. Dogs have the necessary enzymes to kill the bacteria. We just need to wash hands and area its prepared on. Unfortunately its expensive but saves the vet bills.

Watch Pet Fooled!

Thank you for sharing. I never heard of Pet Fooled. Since I just spent $1,400 on a hospital bill, and more expenses forthcoming, Cesar's dog food is in the trash.

Cesar pet food is not a good food for your pet or at least I would not feed it to my dogs. The food contains corn, wheat, and by product (beaks, feathers, parts of animal you wouldn't want to eat) which are all cheap fillers with no nutritional benefit what so ever, and with cheap fillers you'll feed more than what you need to. They are also some of the common allergens in pet food as well. Cesar pet food is mass produced too. Mass produced foods tend to have a recall history and Cesar just had one last year for having plastic pieces in their pet food.

This is not the healthiest choice of wet food you can give your pet. Currently I saw there's a recall going out for this brand as well, saying that plastic pieces have been found in the food. You might want to do some research about this.
