answered a question A Poll- Tipping Sitters?

Rover already takes 20% of my hard earned money, I would not enjoy them taking a chunk out of my tip too. I have only had 1 client tip me, but they wanted to give me a gift card. I certainly didn't decline their offer. I highly doubt Rover would go through the trouble of managing sitter's tips if they wouldn't get any money out of it... wouldn't make much business sense.

answered a question Do you ever give discount for multiple stays?

I don't, especially for multiple dogs. I am currently sitting 2 dogs and 3 cats for 3 weeks. They used to board them and it cost $2,000. They are paying me $700. Not to mention their dogs are getting tons of attention and exercise that they would not get if they were boarded! Keep in mind what the local boarding prices are in your area. If you charge less than them, you are already a competitive option.

answered a question Is it necessary for an owner to ask personal questions about me?

Personally, I would not sit for this woman. Asking about religion and if y'all "have problems" just seems like red flags for a client who will be hard to please and quick to write a bad review! Move on to other clients. Most of them are not this ridiculous!

commented answer My neighbor is complaining about dogs barking during potty breaks. What should I do?

In addition to what Jean said, I would recommend keeping the dog on a leash and going with him if he/she needs to potty in the middle of the night. You being with them may keep them more comftroable and that way you can correct them if they begin barking!

answered a question Owner left a false review. What should I do?

I would report the review to Rover as I don't think the review should stand seeing as though she tried to accuse you of yelling at her dog and putting her dog's safety in jeopardy when there was no proof of that taking place. However, I have heard that Rover doesn't seem to care for helping their sitters in this regard. When hosting dogs who I was told were anxious I have always met the client outside so the dog could go to the bathroom before doing anything else, just an idea for the future for you! Also, I use Urine Off, a product that comes with a black light to help you find urine stains and it has been wonderful so far. I also have covers for my living room chairs and couch. I close off rooms I do not want to take chances having accidents in. While it can be quite annoying to have to put money towards dog-proofing your home, I have found it well worth it!

answered a question How should I respond to a client who, when asked if her dog gets along with others, says "If they leave her alone"?

Personally, I would avoid this client. I would personally take her response as somewhat abrasive. You don't want to take in a dog that may be aggressive and have to deal with an owner who doesn't want to be responsible for any damage done to your dogs. I recently kept a dog who seemed extremely sweet and then tried to attack one of my friends (who had been petting her on the couch 5 minutes prior). All my friend did was walk upstairs to grab something and when she came back down the dog acted like she had never seen her before. When I told the owner, she told me the dog had been so aggressive before that some of her friends could not even come in her apartment because of her dog's reaction to them.... all this to say if she is even slightly hinting at previous aggression RUN!
